(Bloomberg) -- Morrow Batteries AS is opening the doors to Europe’s first major factory for lithium-iron phosphate batteries, as it ramps up production in the hunt for 1.5 billion kroner ($140 million) in government funding and enough customers to cover its first full year of output.
RES Nordics CEO Matilda Afzelius added: “Energy storage will play an increasingly important role across Sweden. RES has worldwide experience in battery storage projects and has delivered more than 500 MW to support a range of grid functions.
At 70MW/70MWh, the battery storage system is considerably larger than the biggest operational facilities in Sweden today which have a power rating of around 5MW, including Vattenfall’s 5MW/20MWh system in Uppsala and Primrock’s 5.4MW unit in Falkenberg on the eastern coast.
