AI Customer ServiceNorSun’s state-of-the-art production facility in Årdal, Norway, is run on green electricity from hydropower. The facility currently has an ingot and wafer slicing capacity of approximately 400 MW. NorSun wafers have a high minority carrier lifetime, and thus make highly efficient solar cells.
NorSun manufactures superclean monocrystalline silicon wafers for use in high-efficiency solar cells. The company uses premium polysilicon in combination with semiconductor-based crystal growing technology, meaning that NorSun wafers have low levels of co-doping, carbon, metals and crystalline defects.
In Norway, we have done a good job of developing technology to extract silicon with a purity of 99.99999 per cent or more,” he says. A good example of the growing Norwegian solar business is NorSun, a leading supplier of premium mono-crystalline silicon wafers.
And when it comes to manufacturing solar cells, Norwegian silicon is the world’s best material. “In order to manufacture pure silicon, the process of converting the raw material must be energy efficient, and the power used in the process must be clean. Norway delivers on both these points.
Asia is NorSun’s main export market. In response to growing demand and the significance of scalability, the company is planning to expand its manufacturing facility in Norway. Innovation and installation of eco-friendly solar power is increasing dramatically, and the demand for silicon is growing at a pace.
“Norway can become the EU’s strategic upstream partner for the solar sector based on its significant expertise in manufacturing high-purity silicon, silicon ingots and wafers,” he adds. “ Solar power is already a very clean way of generating electricity, but there is potential to make production even more energy efficient and environmentally sound.
We are deeply committed to excellence in all our endeavors.
Since we maintain control over our products, our customers can be assured of nothing but the best quality at all times.
